This weeks treasures:

This first link is to Sinix, a very competent digital artist. But even if your old school (like me), you’ll find his insight on shadows very helpful to your art. Trust me, the sheer strength of this guys drawing is impressive, regardless of medium.

Here’s another one on mapping shadow shapes. The video is actually #2 of 7 so you can travel either forward or backward if you want to absorb every detail and have some time.

These next 2 videos are by Stephen Bauman. Though the links are all about drawing, Stephen is a very accomplished painter and his advice will transition well for pencils and paintbrushes alike.

First course on the menu, is the Loomis method. I’ve shared many links to one Loomis variation or another but the video, though short (10 minutes), will give you a solid foundation to build off of if the Loomis method is going to be your preferred approach…

The Loomis method is not the one technique to rule them all though:) This next video covers what Stephen categorizes as the “Visual Style” and the “Structural Style” drawing techniques (and teases his course on how to combine the two).

How was today's edition??
